Charger questions...

I see it's buy this, or buy that first up.

Query has the contacts on the charger been cleaned. I have had similar on my nitecore i4 before, and a clean fixed it.
yeah its all clean. I'm used to dodgy contacts so everythings shiny. It is a bit tempramental anyway, the batteries have to be in at just the right angle otherwise they don't register.

I don’t have a nitecore to compare to, to be fair. So there’s every possibility the vc4 is actually shite.

I have the vc4, vp4 and a gyrfalcon all88. The all88 is by far the best charger but a little pricey and sometimes hard to get hold of.

I have been using the nitecore i2 for four years and recently one of the slots is not charging properly.
Similar to @ObiWanVaponi It decides it is fully charged when it is not.
It does seem that any make of charger can develop this sort of problem.

I was thinking of replacing with a xtar now I might reconsider.
Perhaps four years for a nitecore used every day is as good as can be expected .

since starting this thread I've had two 18650s charging and it has been behaving itself, although the left hand slot has been slower. (they are 69% and 73% when they were both 23% at one point)

This is actually worrying me more now because if its only going to happen intermittently I'll never trust the reading again.

@oldhippydude I don't think 4 years is too bad to be honest, they aren't built to last. 9 months is a bit crap though!

Think I'll have a good read around tomorrow and see whats what, but the I4 is looking favorite so far.

Edit: Within 12 minutes its jumped to 99%. The other is now 85%

Just your luck as with any electronic device really in't it. I've got an i2, just checked and I bought it on 12/4/14 along with a Vamo v5, Kanger Protank 3, 1 x efest 18650 and 2 x efest 18350, all as a kit for £59.99 - only thing that is still going strong is the i2. The i2 has been in hibernation for a bit as I picked up an i4 from @cliveh2 for the ridiculous sum of £8 delivered - the Mrs Vapes also and a two bay charger was causing some consternation domestically. The i4 has quelled the disputes and seems equally as reliable, even fits my recently acquired 21700 cells, with care; the i2 is going to live at the caravan come season start, save humphing one to and fro.

i have already decided to stick with nitecore. My backup/travel charger is a single cell nitecore that is almost as old as my i2 and still working fine (though not used much). They seem to be as reliable as the other options so that is my mind decided.
