E-cigarettes to be banned for under-18s announced NEXT WEEK

Just because something is safe to eat, doesn't mean it's safe to inhale. See cooking oil. We do not yet know how safe it is to inhale food flavours. Safer than cigarettes? Of course. Risk free? We don't know yet. I wish the politicians would concentrate more on getting these studies done and completed rather than worrying about refill bottle size.

Mind you vendors have been doing this on their own for HOW LONG?

We all know that the majority of ecig vendors are responsible and as a self regulated industry (at the moment), vendors have a no sales to under 18 as an industry standard. The caring government want to be seen to be doing something so are introducing a law for no sales to under 18. This is not a problem at all. My issue is that once again, they are just jumping in feet first without any thought and time and "rushing through" this law, on the back of another set of regulations (The Childrens and Family Bill) which is having a reading in Parliament this week.

The Government just needs to sit back for a moment, see what comes from the EU Directive, then what ever way the directive goes, take some time, do some research and set out a complete set of industry (phama?) regulations. Everyone will know where they stand once and for all. We can then move forward with or without restrictions, reduce the amount of people addicted to tobacco cigarettes and continue to have the potential to save a life with every sale of an ecigarette.

No vendor I know supplies ecigs or juices to anyone under 18 anyway, even the guys on the local market follow trading standards advice..

I agree nicotine should be 18+ anyway. Schools have every right to ban them so do private public buildings, as a full time vaper I have NO issue at all with this. However it should still be based on SCIENCE not paranoia and propaganda.

Not knowingly. But internet orders can be done by anyone with a PayPal account or a debit card. How does a vendor know that the shopper is really 18?

That is the hard part, a Skype with the buyer providing photo ID is the only way and it would be expensive and hard to do, but COULD be done.

You have to be 18 to set up a paypal account.

https://www.paypal.com/uk/webapps/mpp/ua/useragreement-full#2

2.1 Eligibility. To be eligible for our Services, you must (i) be a resident of one of the countries listed on the PayPal Worldwide page; (ii) have full legal capacity to enter into a contract; and (iii) if you are an individual, be at least 18 years old.

Thats all vendors need if they take paypal. If a customer deceives PayPal into getting an account, its not the vendors fault and PayPal will take the fall for it.

Unnecessary please see previous post.

Oh, sorry. I didn't know that about PayPal. I thought it was 16. My mistake.

Just seen ITV news with some moron from WHO declaring that ecigs might lead youth to START smoking tobacco. The only consolation was the various images shown of vaping people seemed to favour the newer devices like clearomizer Ego VTR ' s etc. Early morning radio news item on ecigs declared that ecigs contain many toxins and carcinogens! If I hadn't been so fecking tired I would have looked up their website and a contact address to fire off an email to tell them to march that idiotic journalist outside and shoot them.

We can sit and complain on this forum as much as we want, nobody can hear us. Nobody knows we're here.

We know the truth but pharmas lies are falling on more ears.

We need massive exposure like a live debate with Dr Farsalinos and some WHO representatives or something.
