EFVI not allowed at Vapefest 2014

I'm a bit saddened to read judgements being made... it's not necessary, in all fairness.

I don't feel that my puny personal decision not to attend (should this decision hold) is 'unproductive and hurts the vaping community,' and I'm sorry you think like that, Verey... as I have a lot of time for you and your views.

I also don't think I'm being a bully, or have been rude or abusive... and I certainly haven't tried to convince anyone else not to attend or criticised or passed judgement on anyone else for whatever decision they have made on this issue. Me? Militant on this issue? Hardly.
I'm not speaking on behalf of ANYone... just me.

I've read the posts on a few fora, FB and twitter and if it may seem that I'm 'kneejerking before all the facts are in'... well... that's just being dismissive, in my opinion. I'm not kneejerking, at all... I'm just not willing to support, or contribute to the success of, an event that isn't inclusive of ALL vapers, and not simply those that are deemed 'ok' by the organisers. This bit overrides the 'fun and meety' bit... for me... and as Steffi has just said...

"If I want to enjoy the company of vapers that I like and get along with, I'll do it at small scale meets where ego stroking, affectations of martyrdom and shameless self promotions of folk as vaping gurus will be less of an issue."

Absobloodylutelyright.

For those that attend... I sincerely hope you have a great time.

A Typical Saturday night then!!! lot's of Pissed and Stoned people Kicking off!!! Great entertainment though.:hugs:

well, interesting night for those that don't know a couple of comments from the horses mouth last night and this morning, so f you have a room booked lets hope you don't need to cancel it, I wonder if Gordon expected this after he spat his dummy out and made that thread last night on UKV eh

sad very sad IMO of gordon

At the moment I'm looking into cancelling VF as is, refunding the backer, vendors. Vendors have 14 days distance selling to get their public liability refunded.

Likelihood?

I could restart it and ticket it to those attending and limit it. (could be interesting)

I'd rather not, but I'm not being held over a barrel by anyone.

Gordon Alan Beard wants a stall, now nothing will do unless that's conceded.

If it was just me taking the flack all would be well, trouble is vendors are getting flack and pulling out as efvi contact them.

I was asked if they could attend, I essentially said no (the quote they've used is at least accurate)

the response I had was "ok Ric, I had to ask"

That is a far as it went before Gordon posted.

well I've just spent the past hour on the phone.

Wine circle ppl are severely pissed off that I'm upset. (wine circle is
not nearly as pretentious as it sounds)

Here's how it is.

Tomorrow (when I'm sober) I will send out an email to vendors interested in attending as is.

Depending on response I may cancel VF as is.

If need be I'll rearrange it as a ticketed event with no vendors, or vendors which would be kept private.

I'm too young for this shit!

I'm somewhat confused about all this!. I thought Vapefest was a Commercial venture designed to allow Vapers, Modders, Vendors and Juice makers from all over the UK a place to mee,t learn about new gear and juices and generally have a good time. I for one am highly dissapointed by the extremely militant attitude displayed by some members of this forum.

For my own peace of mind and to bring a little clarity, Can any one inform me as to exactly who it is that is being prevented from having a stand at this event - is it EFVI.eu or is it EFVI-UK, and is it as it appears that EFVI-UK are a seperate and distinct organisation?

Now can that person tell me EXACTLY why the organisation is not being allowed to attend?

Whatever the answers to the above questions, the outbursts, mud slinging, threats, calls for boycott and people rushing to say I'm not going all seem a bit premature.

As you can see I don't seem to be in possesion of all the facts and I doubt very much that most others are aware of the full picture either, Please everyone calm down, take a breather and allow the interested parties to work things out.

VF-2014 Organisers are by now aware of public opinion, as are other interested parties, let them talk...

I will be attending Vapefest regardless, I want to meet the rest of my fellow apes, and generally have a good time. The chance to see some shiny stuff, meet vendors Like Mr Kraken, Plumeblu and Shmovapes and taste some new juices is Icing on the cake.

It's also my opinion however unpopular it may be, that an EFVI.eu "stall" would do exactly that- stall, those of us who have signed up and are aware of EFVI.eu would not need to visit it, those who just wandeer in for a look round would probably be disinclined to vissit it as there would be no "Shinies" or "Interesting stuff". A far better and more effective route is for Vendors to promote EFVI.eu on their stall. I for one am more likely to ignore a Vendors stall without EFVI.eu Logo's as partly it shows a lack of interest in the vaping community and partly it shows a certain amount of "Grab it while you can - then run off to the next thing" mentality.

I also think it far more likely for people to sign up for the EFVI.eu after they've had an interesting chat with a vendor than if they wander over to a stall full of leaflets and get talked at for 2 minutes...

So please my fellow apes, Let's call a halt to this rampaging mob mentality, take a breath and let's get back the friendliness and tolerance that we are famous for, if neccessary we can campaign for EFVI.eu to have a stall in a few days first let's get ALL the details, then we can act in a clear and concerted fashion...

Tubs, I love the sentiment, and I somewhat agree, BUT if last year is anything to go by, the vendors wont have time to talk to anyone about the EFVI, they will be rushed off thier feet, and if I was a vendor, I would rather take money, than talk about this.

I have thought long and hard as to why they are not allowed a presence, and I can come up with no valid reason, sprinkle into the mix, the arrogance of at least one of the organisers, and it just makes it a bitter experience. I am sure if he had the chance to change the way he acted yesterday, he would do so.

Saying that, I am still going, just to visit fellow apes, get some signatures and to give the certain individual concerned the chance to explain to my face why he felt the need to personally insult me from behind his PC screen!

If the event doesnt go ahead, I will spend the money with companies like Digbys and at later PoTV mini meets :)

For FUCKS SAKE! Chill the fuck out, don't cut of ya nose to spite ya face! If you've never been to Vapefest before THEN GO!! Its worth it just to meet awesome apes off here! Ive got no soapbox, if EFVI are there then great, if not, its a missed opportunity to promote it. This MAY be the last vapefest, who knows. Go, talk to the vapers, promote EFVI, BUT ENJOY THE DAY! Rise above the forum v forum shit, buy a POTV hoodie and show your support if ya want (I know I am!). Just don't miss out on OUR day, VAPERS DAY, 1 fucking day in a year, swallow ya pride, bite ya tongue, avoid/see/meet who ya want, whatever. JUST GO AND ENJOY! PLEASE!!!

I am appalled by the attitude of EFVI UK. Putting pressure on vendors and rallying visitors screams political party at me. The way this whole thing has gone on with name calling and increasing demands without the willingness to compromise is absolutely atrocious and I am starting to wonder if I can remove my signature as I don't want to be associated with this kind of thing. And I also understand the organisers now, as this is exactly the kind of thing they didn't want. A political pressure party. That is exactly how EFVI is coming across now.
The whole "they are banned from having a stall so I am not going" attitude with it's superior moral stance is crazy. Now vendors that want to attend are called "money-grabbing idiots" and worse. Sorry? And you trust these people to sit quietly at a table in the corner and not force people to sign??? I wouldn't...

Have you any evidence that proves EFVI are acting in this manner?

Also it strikes me that no one certainly from this thread, has tried to persuade any one to cast any allegiance. Those that have said they will not be attending have stated that's their choice, and have respected others when they have maintained the fact that they will still be attending. I think that you should grant them with the same respect, rather than demonising those that have different opinions from your own..

Maybe I missed it? But I haven't seen any insults thrown at vendors attending VF here either.

I started reading this last night, it got too late so finished this morning.............and I'm still confused!

I have no idea who or what EFVI-UK are - official UK arm of EFVI.EU???

I don't really care.

From my perspective, the EFVI is out last, and best hope of saving vaping in any form that would help us keep off the smokes.

If it fails then vaping, vendors, forums, VTTV and Vapefest will be DEAD.

Why the organisers of VF would want to hinder EFVI (in any way) is alien to me.

I'm not going to say anything else on the matter as so far this thread has been well conducted and shows how well POTV members can be behaved.
