Hi all Im new to this but got the bug so....
Just bought a SVB Dna40 box ( very nice) currently using my gp heron with nickel as it works with the temp control. Does anyone think this is better than usual kanthal ?? Also got a Quasar on order what should I use to build that kanthal or nickel ??
Also any advice on how your currently building either of these 2 would be greatly appreciated.

Also (lol) will nickel build work on a normal paps mod ?? ( go easy on me Im new to this)

Kanthal is a fave' go-to for me but it's good to experiment so you should go with whatever you like best. I don't have the heron but there are some fans around here who use it with a cotton build. As for the temp control Tubbyengineer comes to mind, he's messing with all that stuff, don't be fooled by his hairy appearance.

You have bought a cracking mod.

On the whole the Nickel/Kanthal debate is just down to preference.

Kanthal works fine for me as I generally only build around 1 - 1.5ohm, which would need a lot of wraps using Nickel. (Plus I generally use microcoils rather than spaced).

If you like lower ohm or spaced coils, then Nickel might be for you.

I've not tried the quasar but try it first with Kanthal, most atties are designed with that in mind. Once you've got it working well with Kanthal you should have the knack for building on it and Nickel should be pretty easy.

Don't try to use nickel on anything other than a Temperature Protection device like the DNA40 or SX350J.

I've been building my herons in the ZT fillerless method using two twisted 0.25 nickel strands and Muji cotton as wick, results have been excellent, I'm trying some 0.4mm single builds at the minute but theyre requiring a bit of work on wicking as they're slightly narrower coils and I keep overwicking them...
