Leicester faces local lockdown

Yep. We went on Holliday in a beach chalet, for many years, then moved up to the caravans site overlooking the beach. lockhearts were the owners, if I recall correctly. I wonder if Stuart still runs it?

lol. Use to go crabbing just of St Bees head, with my grandad. Happy days. The golf course isn't too bad either. Or should I say wasn't that bad. I am talking over 40 years ago, after all.

we used to sit on the beach watching the shells and missiles land in the sea. They were fired regularly from the MOD firing range at Eakmeals a bit father down the coast from Sellafield.

I’m not sure who owns it. Never stayed at the park. St Bee’s was our local beach and I have great memories of long hot summer days. We used to go after school. Hundreds of local kids walking there and back. They aren’t allowed to advertise it. Some old bye law from when it was a Priory and the locals didn’t want it advertised. It’s west Cumbria’s best kept secret. Rowan Atkinson studied at the school there. A photo I took on a visit home.

What right do councils have to tell you how much of your income should be spent on Groceries and Bills yet they call my ex to ask her about my claim. They try making people to cut outgoings so the council can ask for more rent or Council tax. i feel this is against human rights or something. According to CAB they are getting hundreds of people on PIP saying the same thing.
Asda. I had a diabetic Hypo a woman coughed by me so i moaned , led to argument with her and Asda Staff, Due to the Hypo my brain doesn't fully function and i go into fight or flight mode because my brain senses fear of low blood sugar. This led me to become very confused, feeling picked on and so i swore at folks. I got banned from Asda, complained and was still told if i swear again i am banned. I have used Asda 12 months with no issues, they now know what happened was disability discrimination i even have a email stating my Diabetes is no excuse so now they can go court and pay up that way they may take notice and make sure no one else gets discrimated against for swearing due to a mental or phsical illness.

Its as shit show fella, through my work I have seen the effects of the bedroom tax, bereaved people suffering.... an example was a woman who lost her husband, her 2 lads were moving out, now she could afford the rent, but not the rent plus bedroom tax for two unoccupied rooms, husband was the main and good earner, but since his death she had to apply and rely on benefits.... which meant bedroom tax rules.
Distraught and in poor mental health, she attempted to end it all.
The thought of losing the family home of 30 odd years, all the friends and neighbours who had supported her through her whole life in that area were to be gone.
Why, well because her husband died and the Conservatives and the Lib Dems had decided her home was of fk all use to her any more, if she wanted to stay she had to pay over the odds of her ability of income.
Long story short....... the boy's stayed and moved their wife/partners in......it was the only way to avoid their mother from being kicked out the family home.
To all you that voted Tory..........this is what you did.

Similar thing when my marriage ended, ex was arrested for violence towards me. Council picked on me to give up the 2 bed house and take a flat. they payed the bedroom tax at the house so should be paying it here. I need the second bedroom so my daughter can stay on Saturdays and odd days during school holidays . The thing that has the council trapped is They always payed DHP when i was on low DLA' we private rented then' but as soon as i went to higher PIP they then started the, your outgoings are wrong you can't spend £100 a week on shopping for 3 you cant put £25 a week gas n electric. How is it any business of theirs. CAB said they will have to refund the £11 a week since last July. The council reckon they only give 6 months back, which is another one of their attempts of theft. They also take severe disability payment as part of income, SDP is for folks alone with no named carer and is meant to pay whoever helps so it isn't a means testable income. I cannot wait to get these issues dealt with as they have had an effect on my mental health which i am on Citalopram for suicidal feelings as it is.

We lived in Keswick. my old man ran tech services at Moss Bay, till he retired. My entire extended family are from the Whitehaven, Lowca and Thornhill area.
I experienced my first U.K. earthquake, whilst in that chalet, on the beach.
Miles of sand, punctuated by ever moving rock pools, that were full of life. I never found any of the fabled Sellafield yard long lobsters. But I did see a basking shark, whilst out off St Bees head.

I wonder if they still have that spring at Braystones. Some of the sweetest water I've ever tasted. But the council kept shutting it down. Then we all went back and reinstated it. Time and time again.

@andi52 . here's what i was saying about the BLM protests and the Beaches stuff. Leicester has a high volume of folks from BAME backgrounds you can be sure the protesting caused the spike. I rest my case. :)

Small world hey! My home town is Whitehaven. Moved away at 19, I go back as often as I can. My family are still there. I have family in Keswick too. I guess we could find a common acquaintance If we were to go back far enough. The water, yes freezing and quite delicious. Did you move far away from Keswick?

It didn't, or at least wasn't the main driver. If I can be candid, it's the wrong demographic that's falling for Covid, in Leicester, atm.
It's far more to do with Vit D, than BLM.
Mind you, as time goes on, the effect of the BML gatherings my come to the fore. But it's not just now.
Glenfield is one of the ares, affected. It's solid white middle class, It's the one group, around my area, that mostly ignored lockdown. It's also, virtually, devoid on non white or non British born residents.

I want to return to my comment on vit D. It seems that those with low vit D intake are much more likely to succumb, to the worst ravages of Covid. This is born out by looking at figures. The largest numbers of serious infections come from care homes those recovering from illness and The Black and Asian community. All of these groups have restricted Vid D uptake.
A little research into vid D reveals it has an important part to play in respiration. I wonder if @vapesmarter might have a comment here.
