Leicester faces local lockdown

It's so weird thinking about it now... but I'd bet that your interest and desire to smoke didn't happen at that moment. I'm thinking it had been in your head for years. It's messed up really. :D

As a youngster, almost every adult around me smoked. It becomes the norm inside your head. You want to be like the grown ups. You start smoking.... and that's it.

Luckily for my kids, nobody they see regularly smokes now apart from their two grandmas and they both cough like troopers so that's enough to put them off. They've also watched their mother and I stop smoking and are fully aware that it was for health reasons. I'm also pretty sure that they are a little bit proud of us both for doing so.

that was young, thinking about it I remember smoking cinnamon sticks around the same age, they were a gateway to fags for me

Smoking canes we called them. When we bought them from the sweet shop!
I was pretty wee when I tried that.

Least news, going out to schools is that the lock down may not be lifted on the 4th. In Leicester. And current restrictions will remain in place.

roll ups were brilliant.....I miss them, damn:(....that first draw in the morning aw light headed and staggering about the place was a blast.
I was smoking roll ups for about the last 15yrs of smoking, no filters and was on around 40 a day. Tried several times to quit but if I'm honest I enjoyed smoking so kept failing.
Only thing that worked for me to quit was vaping, simply cause it mimicked the art of smoking, unlike gums and patches etc. Wasnt long before vaping overtook smoking and then turned into a hobby for me.

I concur, I was pure addicted to the wee nicorette tabs and they are expensive (thank god for self service checkout tills:27:) also coming off them was a bastard, much harder then the fags, vaping is the one thing that worked for me because of as you mentioned the art of mimicking smoking

i was raised by non smoking parents although my grandparents all someked including my Dad's Mother who lived to the ripe old age of 102. The reason i started smoking is still something i look back on with regret. Friends smoked i didn't. I always said i wouldn't become a smoker, but for some reason i purchased a cigarette from a shop for 10p shop keeper lit the match and yes i was also in school uniform, ran down the road to the canal walking along the cut (canal) head spinning from nicotine, that was that. I still smoke a Bob Marley or 4 a day to replace the evil that is tramadol. but Family and friends did not influence my silly decision

They probably did have an influence on your decision, you watched them, wondered, then took a notion at an age where youngsters try things cause others are doing it, just to see... if you were missing anything... after all Clint Eastwood was doing it.

That was my point mate. I decided to try it myself. I am one of those blokes who doesn't follow the norm or what society classes as norm.
Sheep mentality does not exist within me. That way i can only blame myself for anything that goes wrong. But it does lead me to wonder about why others copy each other or do as they are told without even questioning themselves if it is right or not. Ben Kenobi " Whos the more foolish, the fool or the fool that follows the fool" It's abvious its those that foollow .
