" rapid natural immunisation." Fcuking moron. There is, as yet, no evidence of any immunity amongst human victims. That one comment indicates what a total fairy tail the rest of the item is.
Thanks for the laugh though.

Does being infected with COVID-19 make you immune?

We will need to do long-term studies in humans to find out if people who recover from COVID-19 are immune and to learn how long that immunity will last. But again, based on what we know about how our bodies respond to other viruses, it is highly likely that the antibodies we make after infection with the COVID-19 virus will provide immunity for a period of time.

Chinese scientists have conducted some early research with rhesus monkeys and found that antibodies after recovery from COVID-19 protected the monkeys from becoming reinfected after another exposure to the virus. After the SARS outbreak, one study showed antibodies lasted for up to 3 years. Studies from Middle East Respiratory Virus (MERS), another infection caused by a coronavirus, have shown that antibodies can be found in the body for about a year.

The level and time period of immunity can also depend on how an individual’s immune system responds, so there is a lot more we still need to learn about immunity after COVID-19 infection.

I posted a link yesterday in one of the other threads from tests in China that found patients that have recovered have been tested again and found to be positive.
It's not known if the virus remained active or they had been reinfected.

Yes I know
I was the one who posted the link about the possibility it might not be reinfection.

I have seen the question about immunity after infection being asked of various health experts in recent weeks.
The position as set out in my quote above seems to be in line with what most experts are saying.

One answer to the question of reinfection of Covid-19.

More worrisome is this quote from that page......

"The Mail quotes the director of Wuhan’s Tongji Hospital, Wang Wei, saying: “It’s possible that these recovered patients tested negative before because of false results... The accuracy of a nucleic acid test is 30 to 50 per cent.”"

Linked from your article is this.
Going to take me a while to read it in full but loads of info contained.

Food for thought???

I will never stop finding it amazing that the thickest politician of recent times has been made to look like a diligent, caring and adept operator by our current crop of international fuckwits.

I don't know how many other countries had made long term preparations for such things as a pandemic, some probably have, and have done it well. We don't do things like that in the UK, everything is pared to the bone, Its long been like that, but certainly has been made much worse with austerity, the Coalition Government and the Tory ones since, Tories are no more than political accountants, dodgy ones at that. We don't have a sovereign wealth fund, we could have started one when Thatcher came to power and the UK became an energy powerhouse itself, due to North Sea Oil. But no...

From the Guardian today:

UK government stockpiles containing protective equipment for healthcare workers in the event of a pandemic fell in value by almost 40% over the past six years, the Guardian has found.

Analysis of official financial data suggests £325m was wiped off the value of the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) emergency stockpile, reducing it from £831m in 2013 under the Conservative-led coalition government to £506m by March last year.

Accounts suggest funding for “stockpiled goods” that are “held for use in national emergencies” was increased between 2008 and 2011, when pandemic preparedness was identified as a national priority for the NHS. But since 2013 the value of the stockpile has fallen.

The findings are likely to renew questions about whether government stockpiles held sufficient quantities of personal protective equipment (PPE) before the Covid-19 pandemic and whether emergency preparations were affected by almost a decade of cuts and reduced public investment.

The government has finite resources.

After 2011 I should imagine the funding for the NHS pandemic preparedness was possibly diverted to, say, counter terrorism.......?
