Lack of early diagnosis and treatment for medical conditions.
but had there not been lockdowns covid would have killed far more people than it has so far. i’m fact it’s already has because of the way they are counting it.

Think it would still of saved more than that it would of not tho

I think we should also remember that - this is a lifting of the legal obligations on restrictions - the restrictions or parts of them are now advisory.

I think we need to take that advice - its them asking us to act responsibly rather than legally enforcing it.

They have more faith in human nature than i do, but ultimately its down to us now.

a situation most people would applaud

around here locally i notice a lot of the people complaining about releasing the legal restrictions - are the same people who were protesting lock down.

some people are just serial moaners and Anti’s

Well just a wee update... i have had my 2nd results thro and i am still Covid free (thank the Lord). I will not be giving anyone a lift to or from work again the hassle it has caused!. But got 10 days full pay of work but not being able to do anything SUCKS. Keep safe people!!

Whilst that is true, the fact that the National Health Service became the National Covid Service has meant that there have been and will continue to be many people dying sooner from other diseases and illnesses, that cannot be discounted, or ignored. Look at the state of maternity, dentistry, mental health services and general practice, when are they going to fix these things, things that were already in a mess before the pandemic.

Total agreement, i have not seen my eye specialists or my Diabetes team since pre lockdown, Today i have had an invite to get a Diabetes eye screaning, some fookin good that's going to do. I need to book a blood test but it's time consuming on hold waiting. Plus i now have to try and get a dental appointment for a replacement filling. It's not all about me, i am just throwing up instances of what's been mentioned. As i said yesterday folks don't think things through on how or why others may be or do what they do or how someone could be affected.

maternity services and mental health services have continued throughout the pandemic, with some obvious restrictions. dentistry and GPs are effectively private anyway.

but i get your point about essential medical interventions etc. had the pandemic just been allowed to run wild the pressure on hospitals would have been even worse than it has, though. with half a million dead it’s unlikely routine surgery would be going ahead, and more likely we’d be in the kind of state india was in with covid patients queuing up outside hospitals.

hmm.

“In light of these grave risks, and given that vaccination offers the prospect of quickly reaching the same goal of population immunity without incurring them, we consider any strategy that tolerates high levels of infection to be both unethical and illogical. The UK Government must reconsider its current strategy and take urgent steps to protect the public, including children. We believe the government is embarking on a dangerous and unethical experiment, and we call on it to pause plans to abandon mitigations on July 19, 2021.

Instead, the government should delay complete re-opening until everyone, including adolescents, have been offered vaccination and uptake is high, and until mitigation measures, especially adequate ventilation (through investment in CO2 monitors and air filtration devices) and spacing (eg, by reducing class sizes), are in place in schools. Until then, public health measures must include those called for by WHO (universal mask wearing in indoor spaces, even for those vaccinated), the Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE), the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (ventilation and air filtration), and Independent SAGE (effective border quarantine; test, trace isolate, and support). This will ensure that everyone is protected and make it much less likely that we will need further restrictions or lockdowns in the autumn.”
