“In light of these grave risks, and given that vaccination offers the prospect of quickly reaching the same goal of population immunity without incurring them, we consider any strategy that tolerates high levels of infection to be both unethical and illogical. The UK Government must reconsider its current strategy and take urgent steps to protect the public, including children. We believe the government is embarking on a dangerous and unethical experiment, and we call on it to pause plans to abandon mitigations on July 19, 2021.

You wouldn't really expect them to say anything else and yes it is probably a dangerous/ risky experiment.
On the subject of class sizes my daughter - a TA, is currently teaching, yes, I said teaching :11: a class of 34 primary school pupils, for a minimum of one hour per day, five days a week, works 8.30am until 3.45pm ish, and is only entitled to a 30 minute lunch time break (no tea breaks), wtaf.

And !!!! What's so unusual in that ?
Try 07.30 to 16.30 with only a 30 minute lunch break [emoji6]

I know mate, I was a plasterer for 25 years, 7.30am to 6pm and beyond, hardly ever a break. Before gobbing off and turning it into a who's the strongest man, woman competition, try doing my daughters job for a week or two, working with disadvantaged and special needs children, teaching children that hit you. Try doing that without any relevant teaching qualifications and scant training, something that is not in your job description and where you earn next to fuck all, compared to the real and qualified teachers.

I wasn't gobbing off at all. Just reacting to your supposed "long hours" statement

Edit. To add. If it's not in her job description then she shouldn't have to do it surely. Can't she have a word with the teachers union ?

The loop is a nice bonus. :D

It's crazy. Only half the population fully vaccinated and yet they've been stressing for weeks how vital both doses are against delta.

Two hospitals in Scotland already declaring an emergency as they've once again been overrun by covid patients.

Potentially, up to 10 thousand long covid cases daily, largely inflicted on the young.

All despite the fact that we've got enough vaccine sat around for every person willing to be vaccinated. You really couldn't make it up, imho. :30:

wearing a mask is hardly a hardship and is known to reduce transmission. it seems like madness. hospitals overwhelmed again soon.

especially with all those sweaty england fans the other day belting out god save the queen and sending a giant covid cloud floating across the stadium. ffs.

Agreed, I do think that lifting mask requirements is madness - it's cheap and easy to carry on with.
