According to BBC news a minute ago...

"PHE looked at 257 cases where people had died of the delta variant. 92 were unvaccinated and 118 had been fully vaccinated with both doses."

The link between covid and hospitalisation / death may have been weakened substantially by the vaccines but it's certainly not broken.

All vaccinated deaths were aged 50+

Ok, it's an exaggeration.... I'll rephrase. Right now I feel like I have more chance of dying from lung cancer due to smoking for 35 years, than dying from Covid. I've managed to avoid it so far, I'd been vaccinated, I live in a area with low cases and I am careful. I feel alright about the situation..... unlike everything else.

I have been rather cynical and thinking it may be a case of a teeny bit more freedom day, and another U-turn, accompanied by the standard its really for your own good speech - maybe masks retained in businesses/shops/transport - but after the football what's the point?

Probably but I hope not... I have a gig to go to at the Joiners in August (postponed twice already) ... it only has a capacity of 200, so I'm going to be even more pissed off than I am already if that's not allowed to go ahead after the football and F1 this weekend. I'm sick of being on the shitty end of 'one rule for them'

I've never that been convinced, I'm pretty sure we live in a authoritarian dystopia now anyway.

I'm starting to think that my lefty mates who said we were walking into one years ago were right, oddly enough though a lot of them don't seem too bothered now.
