So I have been having ill luck with oxidation of my ss wicks. ZT was kind enough to send me some silica wick tubing, now I know this is not pretty, but this is what I was able to do, No oxidization and no hot spots!

Now the cobra only has 2mm wick holes, so I was unable to wedeg the silica into the hole, but there IS an unoxodized mesh wick inside silica to feed juice from the tank up into the coil.

So far, ample vapour, excellent flavour and no hot spots.

I believe the SW is 4mm, So I just doubled it over and held it in place with the coil :D

Ahh! you got it then Meg!

awesome .. pleased its working :)

That wick looks full-o-juice :D but I imagine running the silica into the tank is a better delivery method than SS mesh?

I personally find mesh to wick better and faster than silicca if its hollow in the middle ..

I think silica tastes better more consistently tho.

That looks extremely neat an tidy KulrMeStoopid ZT avapingpig full marks my dear :clapping:... I wished I had such nimble fingers

Hotspots: A slight myth/misconception!!!

People almost always just assume is caused by inconsistent coiling and some tiresome fiddling or probing will sort it out by adjustment of a coil and it can but there could be a number of other reasons. It is more inclined to be a short ... I have a tip !!!!

Perhaps you are familiar maybe not,
But simply using standard household cling-film just where the wick enters the tank, A small piece say 1cm x 3cm rolled around the SS wick after its made and located above and below the point of entry to the tank where the wick sits >>> There how easy is that :P

The only requirement besides a reasonably well wound coil wire is non contact with the base of a tank (if metal) or the touching of body-parts through the wick hole. Many make an all but perfect textbook coil winding, only to find lack of ohms or further problems/fluctuations.

Advantages of cling-film:- (It is less cumbersome than silica tubing so takes up less space and also is 100% food-safe), plus wont degrade during the lifespan of a wick.

Many people oxidize the full wick when in fact it's not necessary just a matter of choice. The wick being of SS and therefore hygienically safe regardless of oxidation or not, as we all know oxidation is merely to reduce the potential of Hot-spots or shorts. Shorts are the main cause of a fluctuating ohms output. and some clingy is a perfect insulator.....:5:

Blasphemer sacrilege on a Cobra HOTSPOT:banghead:!!!!! Seriously that is a tidy job hope the vape is gr8 :)
