I had this idea for a vape that could actually help people quit smoking or vaping, using a switchable pod system and an app on your phone. Something based on the "ElfBar" design.
And I wanted to ask the community what you think.

What if the vape lets you:
Set a strict limit on how many puffs you take so you don’t go overboard.
Gradually reduce usage over time, almost like a built-in quit plan?
Or even switch to an unrestricted mode if you’re not ready to commit yet?

It’s just a concept, but I feel like this could really change the game. Would something like this work for you? Or what would you improve?

I already made a product overview, which I won't show yet. The risk that my idea might get stolen is just to high.

I’d love to hear your thoughts! 🚀

Every vaper has this functionality built in - It’s called “willpower”
As above, I think you are trying to fix something that isn’t broken.

Despite the comments above, I don't think it's such a bad idea. In theory... but I am unconvinced that it would work in the field.

1. You're tied in to the proprietary system. There are too many variables, options, opinions and personal tastes for one single system so suit so many people.
2. Do that many people really want their vaping regulated by an app? What if you're stressed and you need an extra toke or 2? Yes you could build in systems to override restrictions temporarily or whatever, but...
3. It sounds like a lot of faff - vaping is enough faff anyway without needing an app to make it worse
4. How do you deal with variables like length of draw, intensity of draw, and nic levels?
5. Manufacturing - have you thought about how you will develop this and get it to market? Most vape manufacturers (and certainly affordable ones) are chinese, so it won't be here in the uk where you can get involved
6. Distribution - a bit like music (cds, records) distribution, vape distribution is quite niche, and probably stitched up (I could be wrong, just a guess)
7. Maintaining market share - have you seen the clones of high end vape stuff? They're very good and original producers seem powerless to stop them. If you're outsourcing production to the chinese, I virtually guarantee you there will be a knock off version at half the price within weeks

The above, combined with it being pretty expensive... cos you have to make a profit, right?.... I just can't see that much uptake.

Sorry to piss on your fire. I do actually like the idea, but I am struggling to see how it would work in reality. And while I would like to suggest ideas to be more positive, and overcome the above negatives, I'm not actually able to think of any right now. 🤷‍♂️

Most modern pods systems and mods have puff counters on them so you can track usage that way. My old Vinci pod device tracks 14 day daily usage stats, I've never used it though.
Alot of people trying to quit or go nicotine free just slowly and incrementally add less nicotine to there shortfills/longfills.

I like vaping. What are you trying to do that will make me enjoy it more.
My plan is exactly the opposite. I want to give people who want to quit smoking an effective way to do so. With the three modes you can either vape normally like any other, or you can set a program to help you stop.

I know what you mean. But based on my research, I can tell that many people don't have that much willpower. This concept might help them.
