I must confess a screw cap nib with a lid that then screws on to the nib would be awesome but there is obviously a cost implication to this

All joking aside a screw cap nib would seem to me to the perfect solution. They can't cost that much to manufacture can they?

ultimately you are asking for what in essence in todays market HAS to be a cheap product to act like a more expensive product. Poor little mass produced things do a fine job i think.

I get that there would be a cost, but seriously how much are we talking about for the inclusion of a little plastic cap to screw onto the nib?

Don’t know tbh I wouldn’t have thought it would cost more than a flip lid design.

I’ve just managed to fashion this together with blu tac and double sided sticky tape

needs work on the nib tbh

when I fill a tank, and get that wee dribble from the nozzle, I just touch it to the wick and that tends to sook it up, that way I don't get much juice to bother me. my issue with some of the shortfill bottles, would be to have a nozzle more like a 10ml bottle size, just for some fill points

Yeah it does seem the bottle design leaves a lot to be desired. The worst 10ml bottles I've come across are Black Note, a pain to open and the nozzle often comes out when you unscrew the cap. Another other problem is some tanks have a single filling hole and just don't work well with anything other than a narrow needle style bottle.

I get the multifunction / ease of production / mass produced thing.

But... unless I'm mistaken (quite likely tbh), it's not actually the refillable function that causes the leakage is it? It's not leaking out of that part. It's just a shit nozzle design. Most dropper bottles have nozzles that don't leak.

I would have thought that a slightly longer nozzle, or a tiny bit of plastic seal in the lid where it meets the nozzle, would solve the problem.
