Flattened Ni80 Coil building

Hey guys. I've just got my first roll of flattened Ni80 in this mornings mail and I thought I'd whack a build together. Then I thought I would make a thread on here, my experience and your responses might help someone else.
I am by no means an expert but I've built a few coils.
It is a little bit more fiddly to wrap than round wire as it folds over on itself if you squeeze it too hard on the jig. I just used my fingers to wrap round the jig which worked fine.
I used 24AWG Ni80 Flattened Wire 0.68mm x 0.3mm from The Crazy Wire Co. (I believe this is the same as Brochrome from Stealth Vape).
I made 3mm diameter, 7 wrap spaced coils which came out at 0.44 Ohms each, 0.22 in dual coil build. The deck is a simple velocity on a Maze RDA V2.
The coils feel more resilient on the deck, more solid than round wire or claptons. The ramp up time when dry burning to test is quite quick. I barely adjusted the coils at all, they heated from the inside out perfectly with no hot spots or problems.
They look good and have a lovely blue colour after heating due to being Ni80. If someone was particular about symmetry I would recommend.
Now to get vaping!
Please feel free to comment if I have done something wrong or I could improve it.

This was pretty useful, as I want to build by coils for my rda and the rbta I’m about to buy. Thanks

Which of these did you buy as all look similar?

I've just started playing with flat Ni80 from FlatwireUK. Good stuff! Flavour, clouds and quick ramp up time.

I also picked up some 'Flapton 60' from them too. Well, I ordered the Kanthal Flapton but they sent the wrong one and said I could keep it until they get my original order in stock.

I tried putting a flat ni80 coil in my Serpent Smm but it didn't work. Could have been dodgy wicking on my part or it could be that flat wire is more suited for dripping/squonking?
Anyone else tried using flatwire in rtas or rdtas with any success?

I bought some brochrome from Stealthvape after some lovely people posted in another thread about how good it is. Currently have a 24g .18 build in my Recoil atop my tube mech and a 22g .15 in a Druga on one of my regulated mods. Both are very nice builds with good flavour. Not yet sure if I prefer it to my usual nichrome Claptons but it certainly is a nice vape icon_thumbsup.gif

Hoping it is going to work well in rta's as that's all I've got so far, including a Serpent SMM!

I am expecting a dead rabbit from Gearbest any day now as I thought I'd give dripping a try [emoji3]

Let me know how you get on with trying some flat wire in that SMM mate. I thought it would be awesome but for some reason it was thrack. I'll try again tomorrow. Probably my wicking which has scuppered it.

My Dead Rabbit is all clean and shiney sitting on the workbench now so may slam some flat wire in that too tomorrow. I'm sure you'll love the Dead Rabbit - once you've cracked your ideal coil positioning you are good to roll.

It's lovely to squonk on also! :D

I have a dual coil build in my petri 22mm, 3mm I.d. 7 wraps comes in at 0.23ohms, a very nice vape it is too at around 45 watts, also just about to put the same build in my proto rta but that thing is the most temperamental rta I have ever owned, get the wicking right and it's a gem, get it wrong and it's a sticky mess !

@itbitesa5head I've been blasting my aromamizer supreme pretty hard and it's been great. That is the second build I posted in this thread on the postless deck.
It will work out good for you if you wick correctly I promise, no matter what kind of tank.
