What's new

Got fat?

so be it.

@Mitz It may look or read like I'm being blasé about my back, I'm not, far from it. Life's reality is I cant not do, many of the things I have to do. Instead of saying "So be it", I should have said something like "I don't really have much of a choice". I've told countless people to look after their backs, not do that heavy lifting, awkward stretching and twisting, to be careful. They're the same as I was, they don't listen, they don't hear, they think they're invincible.

Loads of used gym equipment appearing for sale online. Everyone seems to have bought it during lock down (hence pushing the prices sky high) and now the gyms have opened up they're getting rid for cheap. Picked up a bench and rack with accompanying weights and another set of dumbells for less than half price and they look as good as new.

I swear I lost a couple pounds just watching the dude unload it from his van and in to my garage. :D

I had a quick look on Amazon over the weekend, you can pick up a foldable bench, a half rack & 6ft barbell all in for about £250, which I didn't think was too bad. Then you get to the plates, £85 for 4 x 5kg & I just closed the window :18: I'm keeping my eye on FB marketplace for any bargains

Yeah, I got mine off fb. The market place is the one and only thing it's good for.

Price of new weights most places is crazy now. I was chuffed yesterday to pick up 2 x 10kg plates from Argos' ebay site for £19.99 plus £3.95 delivery. I'd just given up on Argos as on their website they're all unavailable for click n collect or delivery. The heavy weights should be made out of gold the money some places are asking.

Well I have my first match on Sunday.

In case I get shipped off to the cardiac department in an ambulance, it's been nice knowing you all.

I was just looking for water plates, you know, plastic plates you fill with water to weight but they don't exist apparently, the dumbbells do

While browsing, 2 x 20kg plates, £200! Like, I know metal costs money but that's just ridiculous

Yeah, they kept coming up for the little hand weights used for aerobics when I was buying wifey some small workout weights. For heavy weights they'd have to be too big. 1 litre = 1kg.

Can get a few spares at that price. :rotflmao:

Went back to the gym yesterday & shit I'm weak, I'm weak AF anyway but yesterday took the piss :18: Back tomorrow for deadlifts & overhead press, it'll take a couple of weeks to get into the groove but I'm getting back into 5/3/1 then

I've put two pounds on too, somehow :18:

I've managed to make it through a fortnight of daily cycling, sit-ups and press-ups.

"They" always say that the first fortnight is the difficult phase where you're most likely to give it all up as a bad job - so I'm hoping this is significant.

Just looking down at my gut every morning seems to be working as a motivational tool :D

Yep, getting back into the habit, plus the first couple of weeks suck because your body's just not used to it. After then it gets a bit easier & you ache a hell of lot less

You're doing well there [emoji1319][emoji1319] although I think the fatman football will be a different matter altogether. When I stopped playing for about 15yrs and then tried again I ended up puking my guts up after about 10mins. I hope you fare better
