Maybe we need to find a new way.

I saw that the gov is finally talking g about legalising electric scooters - I think moving forward that is a good way of getting more fuel guzzlers off the road - lots of steps like that could could eventually help to change an oil based economy

That would work for City travel in good weather but what happens when it is belting down with rain ie (typical Scotland) or 10m + journeys.
What they are proposing at the moment in trying to get all vehicles electric i think sounds a good idea for the environment.

The sad thing here is that this is a global issue. Our financial system (on a world wide scale) has reached a point where it's smoke and mirrors. Points on a computer.
there could easily have been a global decision to literally set each countries debt and wealth to be reset to the point the virus started with a click of a mouse.
a coming together to prevent the slipping back standards for everyone but as ever each country will be fighting to come out on top.
I've no illusion that the world was going to reach the realisation of the hippy dreams of a world that shares with relative equality or even a dual centric approach around commercialism/democracy vs communism/national, socialism but it was very much possible to agree a global reset of progress and finance.
Nope. There's profits and status to be gained in every catastrophe. We will undo ourselves every time.

Yeah agreed - like I said - lots of small steps

Starkly true and profoundly sad

You hope for change. The above may be over simplified but really it isn't. But I've no illusion it will happen.
We have been here before. The irony of the 75 year celebrations hasn't been lost on me.
Once again were at a crossroads but rather than choose a better route, the same old nation's are looking at how best they can buy the crossroads and set up shops and a toll booth.

In my experience political persuasion

No, it’s crazy talk. This is about a struggle between conflicting interests that has been going on for centuries and longer.
Sadly the more extreme views of both sides always see it that way - black and white

that’s a very it’s either this way or your wrong attitude - it’s what needs to change politically - from both sides
