What's new

Let's see the blue!!

I saw this the other day as well, was looking for a deep red originally.

Not sanded, did attack it with a scourer though. Cheers for the baking soda tip (none in cupboard).
Yes I did put kitchen full in the bottom and soaked it (its in the pic).
Noticed the kitchen roll after writing the last post all the sanding or scouring does is remove the coating of the metal as the coating acts as a mask and prevents the patina forming, you may know this though.
Will keep an eye on the thread though as i like to see patina's.
If you fancy a copper mech for a decent price Focalecigs have copper manhattans for about a fiver.

Cheers for the heads up on copper mechs @crustyfolker. I'll see how this goes first, if it fails I'll and and redo. I'll post pics either way.

grab some fine grain sand paper mate and if you don't like the patina just sand it offand have another go. I hope it goes well save you redoing. All the best with it and i sit waiting to see it now.

I don't mind doing it over, practice makes perfect.
The idea is to do my coppervape in reds and blues with my avatar on it

That sounds really nice. Reds and blues are nice. Just apply mustard really thickly to achieve good reds, you may get a bit of yellow as well. thin mustard will go a darker colour i.e blackish. this was my only attempt on copper upto yet. You could easily get a stencil made of your avatar

@Jugg1es I'm following with interest, thank you for the pics. And good luck! :)

@crustyfolker I think I said before, I loved the way you shaded down into the blue on that one. I like a type of Dutch pottery called Gouda, and the colours on your mod reminded me of it a bit.

Quick check this morning before I go to work

I obviously didn't prep it enough because as you can see, there are areas that it didn't take to. There are some really nice shades of blue elsewhere on the mod though. I'll rinse it off tonight and decide from there.

That's coming on nice just grab some fine course sandpaper on the way home incase you want to redo it but its coming along and the longer you leave it the lighter blue it will achieve.
