What's new

Let's see the blue!!

That looks great, what did you do differently?
I was more liberal with the salt, I've an ammonia/salt solution and I just layered the solution with more salt then spray and more salt then spray. Gonna rinse this off when I get home after work and see what's underneath.

Looks like youve nailed it this time, That cobalt blue is going to be stunning.......

Finish work at 10pm and it'll take me half an hour to walk home and put the kettle on. The reveal will be soon after that.

Bloody hell, this thread has more suspense than Game of Thrones.

Less dragons though.

@juggles you asked about red patina. for red you need to use a copper mech and really thick mustard with the usual salt and ammonia. For just reds i presume you would need certain chemicals to mix with ammoniadue to salt giving a blue. Mustard and salt and ammonia will give you a fire and ice style patina on copper the blue needs time to get lighter but adding some baking soda with the salt onto the sprayed mech might help lighten the blue. another thing to remember is the patina will darken as it dries and also when you apply the clearcoat which can be replaced with CA glue and will not darken the finish like clearcoat..
Been waiting to see your finished product so hope you get a good result and finish it tonight
