Not being wealthy myself, I totally understand how financial concerns can affect your decisions… It is not my intention to say that no one should ever buy a clone. I’ve bought my share, and there are some thigh-end gear that is priced way out of my league, especially mods
But my point was that there are many of us that can actually afford an authentic rta. If I don’t buy any clones or crap on sale for a couple of months, I can scrape together enough for one of the 24mm rtas below. I’m not sure myself that I’d be willing to spend £200+ on a rta, but £100 doesn’t feel as unreasonable as it once was And I know that Atmizoo and Svoëmesto produce quality gear, it’s a high probability that I’ll like them. My arguments for buying from the manufacturer, you’ll find in the OP. On top of these arguments, you get an excellent bit of kit
Believe it or not, I really enjoy the fact that there are so many different opinions here, but my point and reasoning remain…if you want to enjoy an authentic rta etc that is designed and manufactured by the very people who make these clones possible, it may very well be within your reach
Unfortunately I estimate that 1 out of 5 of the atomisers I have bought over the years stay in my rotation for more than a week or two. Even though I have a pretty good idea of what is likely to work for me, most of them turned out to be mediocre - not actually bad, and when built properly could provide a respectable vape but, at best, in the also ran category.
These are all mainstream budget friendly products so to get one 'good' RDA/RTA its cost me 125 to 150 bones. Do the same thing with high end kit and you can easily quadruple that figure. You'll probably get a well machined product, but a well machined product that sits on a shelf after a week or two is an expensive mediocre product.
I'm not really much of a traditional MTL vaper, don't need a throat hit and detest high nic Freebase - I prefer a loose vape, at least a 1.5mm air-pin and around 20 watts so won't even consider a build deck that relies on trapping wires under tiny screws as I absolutely DON'T find round-wire to give the best vape for my preference so practically every high end MTL atomiser really doesn't appeal to me. Most reviewers are of the traditional low wattage, tight airflow, round-wire, freebase brigade so their opinions and views tend to be of no practical use to me, really all I'll get from their content is to see the deck and hear about the quality of the machining.
During my MTL experimentation period I did buy clones which was lucky as my 'success' rate at finding one I liked was still around 1 in 5 and buying the genuine items would have been a series of costly mistakes.
I would consider buying a high end mod or two, but under no circumstances would I buy an atomiser without trying a clone first.
