Vaping To Be Taxed

I was thinking about how much they may apply to 50mg nic pouches, but then realised we're presumably gonna have to say goodbye to them... ☹️

Footballers and the kids to blame for that one.... it's a scunner everyone seems to have it in for nicotine at the moment

Another thing that comes to mind, is why should say 18mg users be penalised more in tax than 3mg users?

The tax should be per unit mg nicotine, by the product of mL and concentration (mg/mL).

Any tax by mL has the negative effect of encouraging high concentration, which leaves no path down to 0 mg/mL juice, and biases the market strongly toward cigalikes instead of mods where people will have better control over what they are getting.

We all knew it was coming, this could be the push for me to give up.
Will almost defo mean the giving up of lots of us smaller companies.

Anyone wanna buy a juice brand ? Im about done with it all. Its fucking depressing. The whole industry has gone to shite.

I realise among some circles who will kid themselves that this is not the catalyst (which is clearly bollocks) this may be an unpopular thing to say but - disposables and their rampant marketing have a lot to answer for.

Deny it as much as ya like as you suck on the taste equivalent of more sugar than you could safely consume in six months - its blatantly obvious fact.

It's a real scunner fella, some small crafters will struggle to pass on any tax increase as their prices tend to be already on the higher side, due to obviously being a small crafter... I have no answer, except to wait and see what the shafting's bring and what can be done ( if anything) to work around them.

Go to zero nic. Been zero nic for 18 months, best decision i made since i started vaping. No more worrying if i have enough nic base, just throw a few flavours in a bottle, top up with VG and i'm done. Costs pennies.

Hmm... ok, so decaf coffee could work, alcohol free beer, wine etc could work, meat free steaks could work.
for some.
But the common sense is that vaping industry originated from the idea of delivering the nicotine in the less harmful way, not from emitting the vapour clouds?
Having that said, why stopping on 0% nic vape? We shall go further and as the vape device consumes electric power it is better just to look on it, without emitting these clouds to the environment?

Vendors will have to pay the tax upfront, a wholesale/ floor tax type thing? They might end up lumbered with a load of liquid they cant shift, this is going to get messy.

Yeah, the only positive I can think of is that we're all gonna help pay back the government debt... (which was £2,685.6 billion at the end of 2023, estimated at around 97.7% of GDP)

(bad joke, I know)
