What am I doing wrong? Gurgling popping spitting!

Hi all.

I've been using an aspire pockex since being told to quit smoking for health reasons at the beginning of January.

We have 2 of them for me and my wife, to begin with all was ok but both units started leaking, spitting, popping and gurgling. I've stripped them down and thoroughly cleaned them, changed the coils several times but they last for, at most a few days before it goes back to mouth full of hot spitting liquid.

Thinking it may be a design fault after reading several reviews online about the pockex, I went out and purchased an innokin endura t22e.
Set up in 10 minutes, tested and all seemed great, better than the pockex.
Just 3-4 hours later this one is now spitting, popping, gurgling and I may as well just drink the juice straight from the bottle with how much has gone into my mouth!!!!!

I'm starting to wonder if this vaping is worthwhile. I'm back to using a £6 88vape pen which just doesn't hit the spot.

Where the hell am I going wrong?

what type of juice are you using?, sounds to me as your coils could be getting over saturated and not vaporising all the liquid

juice might be a bit on the thin side , but the T22 should easily be able to handle a 50/50. But obviously theres excess juice getting onto the coil somehow, causing the spitback.

The first fix I'd try, would be to make absolutely sure whenever you refill the tank, its totally empty - as a little amount of juice left in the tank when you open it can upset the vacuum created inside the coilhead, and juice will run in. Then when youve refilled (make sure you always close off the airflow before refilling too) take a few dry pulls without firing.

If that doesn't work, try exhaling while firing for a few seconds, then try again.

If your juice is 50/50, you can try a juice thats a bit thicker, say 70/30.

If that all fails, then thats me fresh out of ideas lol, it's been a long time since I've used a pen, and I have no experience at all of the pockex, soz :(

Yup - sounds like juice issue as it is the common denominator
reckon you got a 70PG & coil gets way over saturated
possibly a bit of power causing extra sizzle & spit but most of it is thin juice flooding coil to cause all the agro

list your juice or it's ratio - reckon it's way too thin
or a shit leaking juice/flavouring for your systems

I had the pockex and never had any issues with it so if you're not over filling the tank then the juice is the issue . It only ever leaked on me if I stored it on its side.

Have you tried the flicking technique to remove the excess?

Thanks for the replies. Until I read this I thought all juices were equal.

I've just looked through the bottles I have and some give no indication, some are 50/50, some 60/40 and the latest one I have tried is 70/30. I just walk into the local vape shop and ask for tobacco flavoured liquids (I hate anything sweet tasting)

I have taken extra care when filling so as to not overfill. I have tried drying everything out thoroughly before replacing the coil. I haven't replaced the coil in the T22e because I figured I would be wasting my time and another coil, not to mention the amount of juice I have wasted trying to get started on vaping.

It is crazy though that these more expensive kits are causing so much trouble but a £6 88vape pen has no problems at all apart from lacking a bit of punch.

What juice should I actually be using in these? Surely when I go to the vape shop they should know which ones to supply, or does greed take over???

I'm grateful for any help because the way things are going it will be more expensive than cigarettes at this rate with the juice and coils I'm wasting!

70/30 juice shouldn't cause these issues, but what's your nic level?

If it's too high you may be taking short puffs which allows juice to build up on the coil. If you're already on low nic then try taking longer puffs, if not then reduce it and do the same.

I've been buying 18mg/ml liquid.

Both myself and the missus use them differently but we both have similar issues.

She has the vape practically surgically attached to her lips throughout the day, I pick mine up every now and then for a few puffs. Surely we can't both be vaping in such an incorrect fashion that we are both flooding our coils? She does have more of an issue than I do though, about 5-6 times a day she complains of liquid leaking out onto her hands, I'm refilling her tank about 3-4 times a day, presumably because of leaking. The new T22e was bought mainly for her to try and resolve the problem but that one just gurgles and spits hot juice out and when I unscrew the tank from the battery the bottom is soaked with juice and I have to dry it all off!!

I'm at a complete loss what to do. I am prepared to pay whatever amount of money is necessary for a leak free non gurgling, spitting device but apparently it does not exist.

That could well be the problem. You simply can't take too long a puff with 18mg juice, it would be very unpleasant to draw for more than a second, and, your wife in particular, could well be taking a lot of short puffs.

Juice gets drawn into the cotton and the power is cut off before it can evaporate. The poor quality vape pen is inefficient and doesn't wick as effectively so it's not an issue with that one.

I'm not saying it's definitely the problem, but it may be worth trying 12 or 9mg juice and taking longer pulls.

From memory, I think @Simon G, @zouzounaki and @Purplefowler all vape high nic juices, perhaps they can offer some advice.
