Is vaping something non smokers should not do?

Are you saying that nicotine, when not consumed via smoking tobacco, is not addictive?
I'd suggest there are multiple elements of addiction that make cigarettes in particular very hard to kick, there's the chemical addiction to nicotine, the physical habit of taking a little break and the strong association that has (at least for me) with lighting up. There's also the 'having something in your hand/mouth- part too, especially with things like coffee/socialising etc when there's that connection ingrained - I think that's actually a big factor.

Vaping substitutes all three, and as such is a great tool for quitting smoking - re the pure nicotine thing, I'm a heavy smoker when I smoke, but for example when I go scuba diving, even on a deep one, I'm under for 3 or 4 hours, but feel no urge to smoke (not that one could !!!) and don't even think about it - but the moment I'm back on the boat, suddenly I'm craving for a cigarette, so would say there's a lot of physical habit / routine built in on top of the chemical side.

When I have successfully given up (albeit temporarily, but I mean for months - not with vaping as a substitute, years back) the actual craving fore the chemical seems to go away very quickly, it's the habit of lighting up when having a brew or with a beer etc that cling on for months, forever even.

Yea, but that quote was out of context, that's pretty much what I was saying a few posts back:

Tobacco has various chemicals added to it, that when heated, creates a uniquely addictive cocktail. Pure nicotine, at the recreational levels we are talking about, it is almost impossible for an adult to be pharmacokinetically addicted.

When we start talking about high doses of salt nicotine, or adolescent brains, then it can be habit forming, but still doesn't quite hit the threshold for addiction, bar a few outliers with odd wiring.

Addiction is so weird.

I don't know why I've been able to have a drink all my life without feeling any addictive effects at all with alcohol.

alcohol addiction is a bad thing but i think you really need to hammer it every day for a good while to get physically addicted. there are people who need to sleep with a can of beer next to their bed to sip when they wake up to stop them going into seizures. it’s why some folk
need to go i to hospital for a detox. the more times they try (and fail) the more risky it gets.

jeez.... I guess that's the difference, when I drink I can drink a lot, me and a mate polished off 3/4 of a bottle of rum the other week..... before we went out. But that was probably almost a month ago and I've not had a sip since. I know binge drinking isn't good for you, but I can go months and months without drinking in between.

I used to get the DT's after a 2 week binge on holiday with the lads. Lizards climbing up walls, the lot! 🤢

If you're a non-smoker with Parkinson's then it's probably not worth the bother...

We all know it as smoking cessation and to that end it`s good for you, However it does have risks even without nic.

I`ll advised and should be avoided.

I see this having very little difference from a non smoker who then takes up smoking or a non drinker who then starts to drink etc. Each individual will have their reasons for doing so. None are particularly good for you but it's a life choice that people make. Vaping should be no different. My choice was to vape and not smoke. If someone doesnt smoke nor vape, it's their right and choice to continue on that path or decide if they want take up the habit or either of them.
Vaping is not only a cessation tool. Yes it was in the beginning and a bloody good one at that but if an individual now has a choice to start smoking or vaping then it's their choice. Given the risks involved in both options, you would think that vaping would win every time.
