UK Incremental Smoking Ban (Tobacco & Vapes Bill) Starts Journey Into Law

One thing is clear, this Professor Steve Turner, President and Registrar, Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health is full of shit.

'Popcorn lung'
'Its well know that nicotine is bad for us'
'Nicotine addiction is smoking'
'Birthweight is lower in nicotine users'

oh did they mention my fave popcorn lung. must have missed that for fukwits.

This guy from Inter Scientific was extremely interesting, and Leadsom put her foot in it again, as he shot holes through the vape duty tax at the end of his testimony.

From POTV news page -
The Vaping industry has been shunned yet again by the government as it fails to invite the industry and consumers to give evidence to the Tobacco and Vape Bill Committee. The UK Vaping Industry Association (UKVIA) says the decision to side-line experts is “fundamentally undemocratic”, and expressed its shock and dismay.

Last week, the 16-member committee was announced, only it contained no MPs who had voted against the Bill. The make-up of the Bill’s committee drew criticism from industry commentators, who labelled it “ludicrously one-sided”.

i think there needs to be a distinction between “the vape industry” and “experts”. it’s a bit shoddy to conflate the two.
Hmm.. the "experts" part was referred to in a separate sentence though (albeit stated by an industry body)...

But the process to omit stakeholders ("industry and consumers" as a true conflation) that is fucking outrageous (and bloody typical of the/any government).
And omission of any MPs that voted against the Bill is a way of shitting on them/ showing they don't care or don't want to take notice of any naysayers...

it reads to me like it’s referring to the industry as experts. but aye, you should never vote for tories. :)

The term 'experts' these days should be taken with a pinch of salt but it is nothing new to exclude those who aren't singing from the approved hymn sheet, the WHO do all the time. Afaik all the parties support the government on this so it's irrelevant who you vote for.

Would never say it's irrelevant for whom you vote. I think it only becomes irrelevant when voting for any of the two 'major' parties who both seem to espouse much the same narrative. Time to vote for the far 'righties' (Dick Tice's mob) the lefties (Galloway's mob), the far lefty socialist workers Party etc, etc,
rather than draw a cock & balls on the ballot; it's a very good way to lodge an objection to the fucked up way this show is being run. Humza the crybaby and the Nats are just about to find out what happens when the electorate truly become disenfranchised with the message, esp when it's a message which mainstream political thought finds abhorrent (i.e. the twisted gender bullshit... when is a wummin no a wummin......when he's a man, of course) and positively encouraging confused minors to seek life altering medical procedure when they are weans......sick AF. I said more than a couple of years ago, they will not allow the UK to gather a long enough train of evidence that vaping is relatively safe, this so-called consultation is simply another step in the process of handing the industry to the fag companies. Nothing we say or do will have any impact on their agenda. I am firmly in the man mind thyself camp of anticipating the agenda and taking care of the future needs of me and mine.
