Vaccine 90% effective

The RT article I linked is reporting on the Reuters article you linked. The gist of it is that AstraZeneca is demanding countries sign waivers, not that they have accepted.
Allow me to add some boldtype:

““In the contracts we have in place, we are asking for indemnification. For most countries it is acceptable to take that risk on their shoulders because it is in their national interest,”

Indeed the US has laws in place already (PREP Act) for this very thing,
"PREPA removes the right to a jury trial for persons injured by a covered vaccine, unless a plaintiff can provide clear evidence of willful misconduct that resulted in death or serious physical injury."

they don’t. the article i posted says;

For most countries it is acceptable to take that risk on their shoulders
If "most" do, then others do not. Therefore not fake news.

they have accepted. the eu as a whole (the european commission), and seperately, the uk, have signed agreements with them. what the agreements say is that astra zeneca are indemnified in respect of - and that the state governments have agreed to cover - certain liabilities.

this does not mean people affected have no recourse. this will likely be the case in america, but not here or anywhere in europe.

to state “those affected will have no recourse” is factually wrong, in an article that seems to be aimed at british readers, and would seem to be fake news.

Ah I see what you're saying.
Have you got a link that says the EU and UK have definitely signed up? The latest I can find is an article from mid Oct about them being reluctant to join the COVAX scheme for fear of footing the bill of third world countries.

ah, the deal is with astro zeneca specifically, not the WHO one. indemnity in exchange for a lower price.

They said from the start it was at least 90% according to preliminary findings. Apparently it's now 94% and unlike flu jabs it works just as well in over 65s.

BBC News - Covid vaccine: Pfizer says it's '94% effective in over-65s'
