UK Incremental Smoking Ban (Tobacco & Vapes Bill) Starts Journey Into Law

The Gov don't want people to smoke or vape, they don't want people to drive petrol or diesel cars, use gas boilers, eat Turkey twizzlers , they know best, so shut it, put up with it and smile, we are free.....not

.. these shops vastly outnumber what you might describe as responsible vape shops.
I'm not really talking about vape shops, I'm referring to the supermarkets and convenience stores that all sell vapes (and not the ones you have shown)...
.. and "to the average person this is the norm"...
.. so there’s no point moaning about it or trying to present some kind of rational argument. it was inevitable.
I also believe that it was inevitable (right since I started vape business at the beginning of 2009).. I'm actually quite surprised it didn't happen sooner (well, it did really with the TPD regs)...
.. but there's every reason to moan & complain (esp, to MPs), as the Tobacco & Vapes Bill is downright immoral and flawed for many (obvious) reasons...

The government is calling for people with “relevant expertise and experience or a special interest in the Bill” to provide their views in writing. The sooner you send in your submission, the more time the Committee will have to take it into account.

The first sitting of the Public Bill Committee is expected to be on Tuesday 7 January 2025 and the Committee will report the Bill by 5pm on Thursday 30 January 2025.
Your views along with any relevant evidence should be sent to [email protected]. Further guidance on what to include can be found here. You might want to explain, for example, how vaping helped you to quit smoking and how the Bill as it stands would affect you.

@Toby iVapour just wanted to say well done for keeping us informed on all the things you post relating to the Smoking and Vaping bill and what's going on in the vaping industry. Despite some of the negative comments they attract I for one value your efforts.

of course it is, most of the things the government do are. but you’re not going to change it complaining on here to other people stuck in the same wee niche as you. it is frustrating, but unfortunately
people have walked into it.

Unfortunately Toby the first picture was of a review one of my sons wrote on a review he did on that particular disposable. Zou seems to take great pleasure in highlighting this at every opportunity he can despite the fact I've spent the last 10yrs developing our webite with numerous guides and reviews with a comprehensive suite of calculators which he fails to mention.

The inclusion of those images he added was yet another dig at me and not in relation to the information you were posting.

the image came up on a google search.

but it does illustrate a point i’ve made before, that it is a bit rich to be moaning so much about this when you’ve been profiting from advertising some of the worst offenders that have contributed to it. quite irresponsible.

Yes, there is that aspect of course (preaching to the converted)...

But there are other aspects...

Information and possible avenues to affect change.
I'm a pessimist, but it doesn't stop me trying to do the odd thing like write to my MP etc, and encouraging others to do likewise...
That's why I have posted a few times on the forum, the most recent & pertinent way to complain, in case others might want to -

Some people on here may remember that due to a concerted Europe-wide effort of writing to MPs and MEPs, the EU TPD regs concerning vaping were watered down somewhat.

And even if whatever can't be changed at present, at least people can be informed of what is going to happen.

aye, get in about the search and you’ll find a good few threads like this one, full of debate and predicting a situation like what’s happening now. rather than getting a grip, the industry ramped up this stupid shit. and i include disposables, all of them, as part of this wider problem.

Zou, it's called joining in on the forum about topics I find interesting and want to contribute to. As you know full well my comments are nothing other than constructive and valid points ( my opinion) around what is happening to the vaping industry and the plans the government are trying to implement.

We both have the right to Express our views but that doesn't involve the attack and actions you continue to follow in highlighting and making me out to be the devil of all evil.

I review lots of different vaping products and I don't object to disposables in principle as they are one aspect of vaping and are a valid aid and starting point for those starting their vaping journey. Disposable reviews are just one aspect of my website but as always you choose to elaborate on this one area.

What I do object to is accusations from you at every opportunity you get about being "irresponsible" and as you like to say "profiting" when you clearly have no idea what you're talking about. You don't know my circumstances, you've no understanding on the effort and costs involved in what I do and the support I give to the vaping community.

We've had a few run-ins on here over the years and not once do I question your input other that a healthy debate yet you seem to go out your way to criticise me and make a mockery of what I do. Begs the question who is the irrepressible one here!

i’ve not attacked you. like you say it is good to debate things. and one of the things people will often point out in a debate is hypocrisy. many folk think the government’s actions are fuelled at least in part by the kind of devices you are advertising on your website. to contribute to the problem, and then come here and moan about what is happening seems hypocritical to me, and i think it is valid to point it out.
