This new incremental age ban on smoking is an absolute joke because no-one will take any notice of it. Let's get real, who is going to enforce it? Nobody!

The police aren't going to, trading standards haven't got the resources to so that just leaves the poor shop assistant. Can anyone see a young female shop assistant asking an adult man who may be several years older than she is to show his ID to prove his age to buy a packet of fags?

The only people who will lose out from this ridiculous piece of legislation will be vapers with the flavour bans.

that fags and tobacco can be bought in shops is an anomaly. i think if tobacco was a new thing that had just come on the market the gov would ban it immediately.

Relatively recently the Polish new govt planned to remove the current energy prices cap, and the leftist "part" of the Govt openly said: let's do it in summer, ppl will not notice it so hardly because we will be out of heating season...

And when you grant certain privileges by law, that some adults can be sold tobacco, only determined by THE DATE THEY WERE BORN, that leaves a deeply divided and unjust society, and one in which anyone that has an ounce of cherishing the concept of personal liberty, should be deeply perturbed by.

I have never heard of a law that affects some adults and not others (by age).. this is uncharted territory, there is no precedent...
